salam alaykum, Thanks for taking the time to share that. I also kept hearing of the negative more than the positive about ISNA. Here is another piece written by Sis Huma Ahmed about her experience at ISNA.

wa3laikum alsalam,
i don't really remember anymore too well what was said -- but one thing that i do remember him saying was that the disadvantages of following a mathhab is that you ignore the source and reasoning behind the laws in the mathhab (ie you know the mathhab says do this in the following way, but you don't know why the mathhab says that, or on what evidence and proof from the quran and sunnah is the rule based, and you follow it blindly). on the other hand, not following a mathhab at all means you can potentially be interpreting things on your own which is dangerous.

Allahu a3lam, this is what i remember (hopefully i am remembering correctly from his speech rather from some short conversations i've had with people about this) -- but yeah, i only went to that one lecture, i didn't go to his other lectures that took place before this one that covered the topic in detail (and i was 1/4th asleep in this lecture too hehe).

maybe someone who has read up a lot about this (amil? mansoor? anyone?) can comment on this and enlighten us further?

jazakumAllah khair. oh and good luck on your projects.

assalam-alaikum Ahmed. hope all's going well with you inshAllah. your post about isna was enligthening, cuz whenever i ask ppl about isna, they just talk about the "disadvantages" and the bazaar. they do mention that the lectures were great, but nobody really shares what info was related in them. so Jazak Allah khair for doing so first of all. secondly, could you please elaborate more (e-mail me separately if need be), at your convenience, on the lecture about pros/cons of following 1, 0, or multiple madhabs? Jazak Allah khair! aight, back to my studying (yup, i was procrastinating from coding) but inshAllah talk to you later
