peaces. came back from the trip yesterday (sunday nite around 9ish). the traffic coming back was insane for part of the way (130 miles in 4 hours...). but al7amdulillah we made it back in ~14 hours.
the sky was really beautiful. i was driving around the close of 3asr and entrance of maghrib time, and man it was beautiful. it was like there were all these shades of blue that were coming together in some places. in other places, you could see what looked like a rainbow, but it was just because of how the different colors merged in layers and stuff. too bad i left my camera here though.
i saw the incredibles with my siblings on thanksgiving, it was a nice movie, i liked it (and so did they).
i guess that's about all. i did a tiny bit of code after work today, played some kingdom hearts too.
the only bad thing though is that i broke down and bought WoW (the normal one, not the collector's one). haha, OK is gonna kill me, and he has good reason to do so too... but i will insha'Allah not play too much. as a matter of fact, i haven't even opened it yet.
anyhow, time for bed, peace outs.

that game (WoW) seems really haram, and i think you should return it, Ahmed. if your friends see that website via your blog (if they don’t play the game already), sins will be going on your account, and its not worth it. need for speed, flight simulator, kings quest, monkey island, early versions of space quest, even mortal kombat seems more halal (depending on who you play as). (don’t take it personally, i remember you and yousef used to gun me down in wheeler with your own fatwas, and al-Hamdulillah your darses at Tech rocked)

thank you for your comments fariha — from my understanding (although i haven’t actually played the game yet so Allahu a3lam and you may be right), the game doesn’t contain any bad content. the main reason he was telling me not to buy it was because of the time wasted with such a game.
unlike other games where you just buy the game and play it at your convenience till you beat it; the main issue with this game is that you pay a subscription to play it (and you can’t play it w/o the subscription fee, minus the first month which is free), and plus the fact that there is no such thing as “beating” this game. so when you know you’re paying to play it for a particular month, you’re going to be more likely to waste more time playing it to “make it worth your money.”
and for that reason, he was saying that i would waste too much time with it and get addicted to it, where i should really be spending that time more productively (learning about deen, revising quran, etc).
if i do come to discover that there’s not good stuff in it though, i’ll not play it insha’Allah and won’t subscribe to it (the first month is a free trial month, so i can see). but you can’t return software once you bought it; and hence i am “stuck with it” in a sense.
i do definitely agree with you that i shouldn’t be encouraging people (directly or indirectly) to play such games because they’re a huge waste of time. and even if i manage to control my playing of the game and not play it too much, not everyone can do that and some people really do get addicted on these kinds of games.

i hope they put a character named mansoor babar for whatever reasons who is an annoying fan of harry potter in the next book and in fact gets so annoying he just zaps this character mansoor away in an enclosed room with harry potter wallpaper surrounding the entire room so that this character mansoor spends his dying days imagining himself to be like harry potter but never quite getting there. and in conclusion, he dies a sad , unaccomplished man.
