windows downgrade

i’ve been dual booting my gentoo box with windows vista 64 for my occasional bouts of gaming… but yesterday, i decided that despite microsoft ending it’s support for xp sometime this year, that i am better off running xp for gaming than vista. so i downgraded vista 64 to xp 32. i think i made this decision after seeing this article on slashdot.

Why use windows at all for gaming? Wine works great! Well, for the hl2 generation of games it does. I’m not sure about anything newer.

wine and cedega are both good, but still don’t quite match up to the performance of windows in many cases (world of warcraft is a good example – i can get it to run decent in linux, but nowhere as good as in windows). quake4 in linux (non emulated) runs awesome though :p

dang, it has been ages, dude!
